It was my husband's birthday yesterday and his favorite is BaNaNa CreAm PiE....
Soooo Like a GoOd Wife I made it from Scratch....

It Was YUMMY!

HaPpY BiRthdAy to my SwEeT HuBBy....

Here is The ReciPe so you can make one for someone you love too!

LION HOUSE BANANA CREAM PIE

5 T. Cornstarch

1 c. sugar

1/4 tsp. salt

2 1/2 C. Milk

3/4 C. Half and Half

3 egg Yokes

2T. Butter

1 tsp. vanilla

1 C. Whipping Cream

1- 9" pie shell

~ In a 3 quart pan mix cornstarch, sugar and salt.

~Add Milk and Cream and cook over Med. Heat until smooth and thick (stir constantly)

~Pour small amount of hot mixture into egg Yokes blended thoroughly then pour back into the sauce pan.

~Cook another 2-3 minute

~Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla.

~Slice 2-3 bananas into bottom of BAKED pie shell and Pour filling over Bananas.

CHILL 3-4 HOURS

When ready to serve WHIP CREAM and spread over PiE....

Fast Breakfast....

I am trying to get my kids to be more self sufficient especially in the morning chaos before school. Well breakfast is the most challenging when you are trying to teach self sufficiency. Sure they can pour cereal but I also wanted them to conquer something else as well....as I was looking for other options I found that you can Scramble eggs in the Microwave! Hooray! (Did anyone else know you could do this?). Anyway we have been scrambling away with our trusty microwave.....you should totally try it! Oh and the other part I love is the simple clean up afterwards! And no HOT stovetop involved in this project either!! Give it a try.....

Microwave Scramble
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. Milk
2 Tbsp. Shredded cheese
We have also added precooked bacon and ham for added yumminess!
Coat a microwave safe coffee mug with cooking spray
Microwave 45 seconds

Stir

Microwave 30-45 seconds longer

You will have to test out the time as each microwave can be different!!

Top with cheese And season with salt and pepper.

Enjoy!!

So last week was CRAZY!!! Trying to juggle three kids with the hubby traveling for work can be stressful enough. Then More fun was added to the week with the arrival of this!! JURY DUTY(yes, those two words are also 4-letter dirty words in my book!!) This is my third time enjoying this civic duty.....LUCKiLY they did not want me to serve on the jury!!! HOORaY!! LIFE is Back on!!

Do you make New Years Resoulutions?? I know there are people who's resolution is to NOT make resoulutions! Ha! I am approaching my goals this year a little differently....12 in 12 is my goal this year!! I am going to do one goal a month and focus on that! Hopefully simplifying to one a month will make them attainable!! FiRst Up on the agenda.....HOME oRgAniZation!! After the Holidays this is always first on my list!! I love to clear the counters and tables and live with NO decor for a few weeks until Valentine decor comes out!! This is a great time to clear out the old and replace with all the new from Christmas! We started our organization over the holiday break, My sweet hubby made some shelves downstairs in our storage room so we could organize our food Storage!! oH HaPpy Day!! We are off to a good start!!
But my VERY top RESoLUtion for 2012 is to just be HaPpY!!! I think it is going to be a GREAT YeaR...Can YOU feel it??

Okay ,so my kids LoVe to make gingerbread houses at Christmastime...
This year however I was thinking there has got to be more then just the same old gingerbread house out there....
I wondered if you could make them out of something else YUmMy....
WELL Good news I found these molds you can use for not only gingerbread but CHOCOLATE as well !! Can you imagine a Ch0CoLaTe house!! YUMMY! These molds are made from silicone so the chocolate pops right out!! Fun Right??

I am sure you have seen these all over blogO'sphere and if you haven't made one you TOTaLLy should!

All you need is an old paper back book, rip the covers off and round the corners to make a pumpkin shape. A simple stick from the yard for a stem, green ribbon and a little touch of orange spray paint and U are DONE! So simple and FuN!!
I am even going to teach my R.S. ladies how to do this next month for our monthly meeting!

My only recommendation on what i did differently is i only rounded the corners instead of making a template....totally works and not as much cutting.

On another note....

If you are looking for a super easy garland for fall I made this one for my table with the natural coffee filters and clothes pins.(i was in charge of the R.S. table decor for super Saturday)

This is an easy and inexpensive way to use things you already have!

Just cut the filters with scissors and make slits all the way around so that they fan out like flowers.

I have stacked them in three's but if you wanted them more fluffy you could add more layers!

This was the corners of the table....lots of ribbon, a doily and some rosette flowers pinned up with a clothes pin! Easy PeaSy!

And then i added this cute fall printable....Isn't that frame fun??

I had a busy weekend....my hubby was out of town on a boys trip and so it was just me and the girls!! We went for a treasure hunt on Sat. and found some thrifty treasures....

LOOK what we found!!

My first treasure was a vintage table cloth gift set!! STILL new in the BOX!!

The Next Treasure was these Little glass luncheon Trays with tea cups....i thought these would be fun for showers, holiday parties, tea parties with the girls.! Got a dozen of them in all!

They have the cutest detail on the handles!!

Then I scored a variety of other vintage linens....checked table cloth with crochet trim....

Brown and orange fall colors.....

i love how soft all the Vintage linens are....

This little white and pink one is a table runner! Cute trimmings....

And last of the fabric finds were these cute checked napkins....Loved these for the trailer!!

And another fun milk glass bowl to add to the collection.

And Last but not LEAST....my favorite find of the day was for the Trailer....

a little vintage cooler, perfect size for the Vintage Trailer!!

The 365 SwaP was once again such a fun event....check out the details of the night!!

WeLcOme StaTion:

Pick a NamE tag....all so fun and creative...it was hard to choose just one!

Here was my name tag for the night!!

Next park your purse at the purse dropping area!!

No $$ Needed at the SWAP!!

Then... get in line for all the YumMies to be had at the food table.

They had pie tins for your plate and canning jars for serving soup!

The desserts were so YuMmy...cupcakes, pies, cookies...OH MY!!

And Homemade RooTbEER....YuM-0!!

The decor for the party was so darling....They thought of every detail....(I love details they make such great parties!!)

This was the wall of silly mustache photos that the party guests shared!! It was a fun element to add to the party atmosphere!!

After dinner it was time 2 SwaP!!

The sWaP piLE was ENoRmOUS!!

So manY fuN TreAsUres to see....it was hard to make decisions on what to pin!!

After all the swapping was done the ladies who did not recieve any treasures from winning the drawings were given the opportunity to

chose from the box O' Treasure to get a fun item to take home!!

It was such a fUn night but it got dark fast so, everyone packed their treasures....

GrabBed some produce from the fArmErs marKet SwaP StatiOn and headed home!!

Here are the treasures I scored this time via the swaP....

APparEntly this is a sign to get all those family photos hung on the wall in my house!!

I am NO workout queen but I have found a new tool online to help me with my workouts....
I have added the Workout builder from shape.com and have loved the instruction!
You tell it where you want to target(IE. abs, arms, hips, legs etc..) and it will customize a workout in a series of video's for you to follow.....can't get easier then this!

We also had a relay race that involved getting out of bed(sleeping bag) getting dressed(over sized adult clothes) racing to pack a lunch(fake food), pack books into a back pack and race back to the finish line!

(Sorry I was laughing so hard during the relay I forgot to take pictures! it was pretty entertaining and so fun to hear all the giggles!! Ha!)

Every year as I prepare to pack the kids lunches for school the Japanese Art of Bento comes to mind....
Have you heard of Bento Boxes??
Bento Box: A single portion boxed lunch or meal common in Japanese Cuisine. A Traditional Bento consists of rice, fish/meat, and vegetable side. The containers are usually compartmentalized but not always. It is seen as an art form and skill- food is often arranged to resemble other objects such as flowers, leaves, cartoon characters etc.

I love this idea of packing lunch in this clever and creative way!!

I know I am a little late for 4th of July but I thought I would share the table decor that I put together for my sweet friends 4th of July birthday party. Here in Utah we keep our 4th decor up throughout the month to celebrate our Pioneer Heritage, so this decor could be fun for that as well...

TaKe a PeEk!

Simple bandanna's 2/$1 from Dollar Tree plus a 4 pack of napkin rings(sprayed red) also from Dollar tree make fun chair back covers!

Simple way to create a runner....fun different textures of ribbon!

I used the stuff you put on the bottom of kids pajama feet for the main runner! It has such a fun "bumpy" texture!

Centerpiece...geraniums and a red metal bucket....

Then each place setting got it's own cupcake stand.....

All the stuff you need to make these also from Dollar Tree!

Buy a candle stick, a candle plate and a votive candle holder and Viola!!

I used E6000 glue to glue the plate and candle holder together and sprayed them RED!!

I then Added a doily and turned the votive candle holder over and added cupcakes!!

Such a fun and easy CRAFT!

Party garland was RED Napkin flowers ...White doilies folded over and BLUE Napkin POm flowers!

Strung up on Bakers Twine!

Super Simple and all from...... U guessed it.....Dollar Tree!

I love to use napkins over tissue paper....they seem to hold up better than tissue when you separate the layers!

Hope this has inspired you to decorate your tables....patriotic can be a theme anytime!!

We just finished a big project over the weekend....the dreaded GaRaGe clean out!! Now it is time to organize what is left....
i am LOVING these carts from Canvas Steele.
my mind is reeling with all the possibilities of how to use these industrial looking canvas carts!!
(i love the industrial look, so these are just my cup of tea)
just think....garage storage for all the sports equipment.

Nothing says summer to me more then some YUMMY lemonade.....
Strawberry Lemonade to be exact, so today we are going to make some!!
I love to try different recipes in search of a favorite so here are some we are going to give a whirl!!

Strawberry Lemonade

2 bottles(59oz.) simply lemonade

2 lemons sliced in rings and seeded

2 lbs. strawberries or raspberries

1-1/4 cup sugar

Pour 2 bottles of lemonade in pitcher

Slice lemons and set aside

Hull strawberries and stir in sugar and let sit 2 hours at room temp.

Then place 1/2 strawberries in blender and blend til liquid.

~repeat with rest of strawberries~

Strain to remove seeds

Stir in strawberry puree with lemonade and stir....

add sugar to taste if needed.

Frozen Strawberry Lemonade

2 cups ice cubes

1 cup water

1 (6 oz.) frozen lemonade concentrate

5 Large Strawberries hulled

Place ice cubes, water and lemonade in blender.

Process until ice is finely blended.

Add Strawberries and puree...taste and adjust flavors to desired taste!

Over the years with my kids I have found it necessary to change the chores and charts as the kids have grown older.

WeLL you have probably noticed a little lack of postings here on the blog lately.....I have been busy working on a project at work that has been months in the making!! Check OUT my new place at work!! They just completed construction on our new Health Building on Campus and we were so thrilled to finally be able to move in this past week and we held our first classes on Monday!!

The building is beautiful....

And here is my area....Dental !!

NEW everything!! we are sooo spoiled!

This is what lines the hallways of the building...pretty clever!

I am gathering my thoughts of just how to get my vintage trailer put together so we can hopefully take our maiden voyage this summer. My girls are really getting after me to get her finished.....we named the trailer and her name is SALLY....cute huh! Well Sally is going in for a some exterior paint and polish soon! I am now turning my thoughts to the inside of the trailer and trying to find just the right fabric, flooring, and counter top. Here are some inspirational photos from all over the web.....

I volunteered over the weekend for the Ogden Marathon!! My aunt runs an Aid Station at her restaurant The OaKs and I went up to encourage the runners and help out!! It was so fun! It is amazing to see those runners with such determination and stamina to make it those last few miles. Our Aid Station was at the 18.5 mile marker so it was interesting to see who was gliding through or dragging butt!! ConGraTs to all those who gave it a try and completed successfully! I got home and was talking to my husband about training for the race....I think we might give the half marathon a shot next year!! Ha! Better start training now!!

okay I love this idea of a tiny little house....(although my family of 5 could never survive in such tiny surroundings for long) wouldn't this be an ideal cabin getaway? Something about tiny cute little surroundings appeals to me....and that tiny little porch....love,Love, LOVE it!

Tumbleweed tiny house company sells house plans that can be purchased so you can have someone create your tiny house or build it yourself!! Square footage of these houses is 65-839 sq ft!! I think living this way everyday would be so freeing....just think you would really have to SIMPLIFY your life....I think this would be lovely.
Check out the plans you can choose from....and you can have it built on a trailer(the smallest houses) so it can be portable.

I know alot of you probably plan out your menu's so this may never happen to you, but sometimes I find myself at the grocery store aimlessly throwing items in my cart and have no plan for dinner! Sometimes I try really hard to remember my recipes so I can get all the ingredients and spices and then get home to find I am short an ingredient or two. Well when I find myself in this situation I found a solution that is available right at the store!! McCormick has come out with ReciPe Inspirations that have all the spices needed for the recipe and provides you with the actual recipe(which is on the back of the card) and you just add the Meat and produce items. I pick one of these up and head to pick up the items I need to go with the recipe!! So FasT and easy!!
Anyway....Just thought I would share my secret in case you find yourself at the store and want something YummY for Dinner!! I have tried these three recipes and they were all YUMMY!
Has anyone else tried these??

My little girls made me breakfast in bed complete with Yummy (frozen) waffles! They were so excited about treating me to a special day!
The best thing about this Special dAY was all the heartfelt homemade gifts.....these are something you cannot buy at any store.....so precious to me.

I am obsessed with this backyard oasis that Fabric Designer Michael Devine created out of a prefab outdoor shed from LoWeS!! Wouldn't you love this in your backyard??

Here is what this little shed looks like before.....

He obviously switched out the doors and didn't have the window put in.....

He added a thatched roof and some decorative touches.

okay......perhaps I am the last to discover these but I thought I would share since it is almost summer!
Every Mom with little ones should have these in the freezer for summer!!

These Popsicle's have gelatin in them so they melt slowly and don't make a mess as your littlest children enjoy their treat!! They are also half the size of a normal Popsicle, perfect size for the little ones too!

I think this is genius....my older kids love them as well!

They are super YUmMy!

Did You have a fun weekend?
We had such a fun EaStEr with all the hunting of eGGs and lots of FoOd and Family/friends!

It was Marley's first EasTer Egg Hunt and she was pretty much done after she found her first egg. I handed it to her and she would not let go of it! Here she is in her wagon all bundled up for the HuNt!

The girls did great at our AnnUaL Neighborhood EasTer Egg Hunt/Picnic!

McKenna even scored the Coveted GiAnT EasTer Egg!

So here is a simpLe and inexpensive way to dress your table for your Easter or just for SpRinG!!

You maY have everything you need around your house already!!

OkaY....first off there is no MatChy, MaTchy with this table decor...

First I found the 4 place mats that came in 4 different colors pack from Target $7.99

I then decided I wanted to kind of keep it not so matchy matchy with the setting favor so I switched it up a little here too!! Check out the photos and you will see what I mean....

This first place setting has a paper sack basket made from a white paper bag with a pom pom flower made from a paper napkin!!

I used coffee filters cut into strips for the filler material.

This place setting has a canned food favor that has been wrapped in scrapbook paper and a little poM PoM trim! I also added a wire to make it look kind of like a basket so I could tie the ribbon. These would be darling planted with WhEaT GraSs and then add caRRotS. Remember those Dollar Tree candy CarRoTs?? They are cute favors!

This setting has the same paper bag but different flower....gingham fabric flower with clip on the back so that the little girl who sits here can wear the flower in her hair after dinner!

Over the table are some fun PaPer flowers made from tissue paper from the DoLLar Store!!

You need 10 sheets...cut some trim up the sides, accordion fold and VioLa!

I lovE the ImpaCt these Make on the Decor!

SiMpLe Centerpiece....two Mums from Home DePot in a basket.

these are setting to the side of the plate....cut out flowers...you can use die cuts or scrapbook paper then add a mini cupcake liner and fill with candy. I used lemon drops but you could use jelly beans or whatever you have on hand.

Here is the tutorial on how to make the paper baskets....

Use paper bags that are self standing...

Cut paper bag into an upside down "T"

You can scallop the edge for a fun look!

open the bag up and staple the two free ends to make a handle!!

That's it! Now add your flower embellishment!

To make the flower out of Napkins use Two paper napkins cut up into 8 layers.

Next add a scallop to the edges of the napkins.

You can round the edges or make triangle edges...u decide!

You don't have to be perfect here....

Next Accordion fold...back and forth to create this...

Find the middle and tie with wire or string....

Fan out to create flower....

Attach to your paper bag ....use this same technique on a larger scale to get big paper flowers out of tissue paper!! These small flowers would also be cute for a garland strung together!!

DIY BiRtHdAy BaLLonS

We have 4 BiRthdaYs in a ROw in our FaMily....one in Jan, Feb, March and April) I decided I would save myself a little grief in the BaLLooN decor department and buy a helium tank! Inflating your own balloons well.....It was seriously so easy! I can't believe I didn't try this sooner! You can buy the tank at Walmart for $19 (inflates 30 balloons) or Zurchers has a Tank for $29.97 (inflates 50 balloons)
You can save the rest of the helium in the tank for future parties and the best part (for me anyway) was the fact I didn't have to battle getting the BallOons in and out of the Car!! BONUS!

The tank comes with balloons and a roll of white balloon ribbon string.

I bought extra deflated balloons at my local Zurchers party store. (polka dot ones of course) Just make sure if you buy extra balloons that it says "Helium Quality" on the package.

Before Marleys party we had to try out the new tank so here we are with our first trial run Balloon! It Worked out so GREAT!

BaLLoonS are so fun ....who knows after all these parties we might just inflate balloons just for fun! My kids love to fly them outside like kites with EXTRA long strings! SIMPLE fUN!

The weather hasn't seemed much like spring sooooo I decided might as well make the best of staying inside and start MY SpRiNg Cleaning!!
I loved Clover Lane's idea of 40 bags in 40 days clean out/lent!

And Martha has a great spring cleaning checklist!

And here is my reicpe for Window Cleaner if you need one!

WiNdOW CLeAnEr

2 cups alcohol

1/2 cup Ammonia

Water(enough to make a gallon)

Mix first two ingredients in an empty gallon milk jug. Add enough water to fill bottle. Mix and place in spray bottles to use.

This is also great on countertops, stovetops, sinks.

Many of you may remember when I bought this cute little bench(like a year ago!) online from Walmart!! She was $ 89.00 so I bought her to be a coffee table!! Well that was about the time we started the basement project with LOTS of dust flying through the house so I saved her until that was complete!

I looked online this morning and they don't have this exact bench but they have replaced it with another one that is similar if anyone is interested.

So yesterday my hubby and I went to a local sandwich shop and had YuMMy turkey sandwiches on homemade bun bread it was so Go0d and It got me thinking about making homemade hamburger buns and how YuMmy those could be so today I found a recipe and made these.....

The best part is how darn eAsY they were to make!

I may NeVeR buy store bought buns aGaIn!

I used a recipe that uses your bread machine to make the dough!!

Do you have a bread maker?? Yeah....I had to dust mine off so I could use it!

It couldn't be easier....Just put the ingredients for the dough in the bread machine and let it do all the work for you.

Then roll out the dough on a floured surface....

Use a glass cup to cut your bun circles!!

I cut my dough in half and rolled two circles out to get 6 circles from each so 12 single buns all together.

You can use the leftover dough to make dinner rolls.

(Won't this be a great recipe for summer for all those grilled hamburgers too??)

With 3 girls it seems as if I am always making some matching hair or pin for an outfit!! These ideas I found from craft snob!! She has great tutorials and I will link you below the picture if you are interested in making your own!! They are super easy!!
I loved the texture!!
I changed mine just a bit from Craft Snob's Tutorial.....
I made these with 1 1/2 inch ribbon and it frays when you cut it to give you a fun texture!

The chandeliers have been hung in the girls bedrooms and they think they are magical!!

Lately....
I am obsessed with WHITE kitchens....
I am even trying to convince my husband that the painters need to come back and paint the kitchen!!! YES I am serious!!
I think I might start small and start with the bathroom cabinets to show him how lovely it will look!!
Take a look at the eye candy....

And eventually I would like to incorporate a nice little farmhouse sink....or two!!

Anyone else have this obsession???

I can't wait for warmer days.

NeW CarPet!!

The basement project is almost finished....we got carpet this week!! I love it....I don't know if you can tell from the picture but the carpet has a SWiRL pattern!

They said at the carpet store that this is what people are trending toward now instead of the longer shaggy carpets.
My girls have been having such a blast running back and forth in this open space! Who knew Carpet could cause such hApPiNeSS!
Oh and the Smell of new Carpet.....I love that nEw Smell.....

Just ordered 2 of these from Overstock for one of the girls bedrooms....

Can't wait to start decorating!!!

Tonight for our Valentine Dinner I am mixing up a Special "FancY" Drink.....
Have you had a Shirley Temple before??
When I was a young girl this was our "Fancy" drink that my mom would let us order at the Mexican Restaurant we would visit. It was always fun to get a drink in a fancy glass....
This is such a Fun Party drink ....little girls especially favor it because it is a soft pink color when mixed....
Give it a try....it is YUMMY!

Shirley Temple Drink Recipe

6 ounces Lemon Lime Drink(sprite) or ginger ale

1 1/2Tablespoons grenadine syrup

Maraschino cherries, strawberries, lemons for garnish.

1. In a tall glass full of ice pour soda and grenadine together. Add cherry or garnish of choice and straw.

**You can find Grenadine syrup in the mixer section isle of the grocery store.

(for those of you not familiar with what grenadine is it is pomegranate juice)
